Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2024, a global initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially children and  young people will take place on Tuesday, 6th February 2024 with the theme “Tech in our World”.
As a whole school community in Finn Valley College we hope to promote online safety not just on Safer Internet Day, but at any time of the year.

#Online Wellbeing in FVC aims to help achieve the pillars of wellbeing by encouraging students to :

Being Responsible: Do I take action to protect and promote my wellbeing and that of others? Being Resilient: Do I believe that I have the coping skills to deal with life’s challenges? Being Connected: Do I appreciate that my actions and interactions impact on my own wellbeing and that of others ,in local and global contexts?

Thank You to Ms Coll, who registered our school, to take an active part in this very important awareness day. All 1st year students in STEM classes will receive a Webwise wristband for their participation. Their activity will include creating a poster awareness campaign on the benefits of and the dangers surrounding social media platforms and provide advice on the safe use of these platforms. Check us out on the interactive map !!

Thank you to Ms McGeehan for organising speakers to come in on Tuesday to highlight the importance of Internet Safety.
All 1st year classes will have a talk by Gareth Gibson from Donegal Youth Service on Tuesday morning. LCA 1 classes Heaney and Hamilton will have a talk by Patrick Mc Glynn (Juvenile Liaison Officer) on criminology and the consequences of disrespectful online behaviour.
