Students create Ed Sheeran “Magical” Video

Finn Valley College are one of the fourteen entrants from across the world chosen to create a video to accompany Ed Sheeran’s latest album ‘Autumn Variations’.
Record label Warner Brothers Music got in touch after Ms Edel Temple submitted the application when she saw the call-out on Instagram. After receiving over 4,000 entries in over 75 countries, the singer-songwriter picked 14 winners representing Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, The Netherlands, United States, Brazil, Germany, Japan, France, New Zealand, Taiwan, Mexico, and India.

“‘Magical’ was shot in Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, County Donegal, Ireland. Our Transition Year pupils devised the concept with their teacher, Ms Garry, of a school love story with a Romeo and Juliet twist! Our school hosts an annual variety show – the mix of love, literature and drama in a school setting seemed universally relatable and complimented the beautiful lyrics and melody of this timeless ballad.

Personal message from Ed Sheeran

This has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents.

A special word of thanks and congratulations to Ms Garry and Ms Temple for all their hard work and the success that has resulted from this.

“I feel like I’m going to wake up any minute now and it will be like one of those essays: ‘It was all a dream…’ Edel Temple” Quoted in the Irish Independent

The sky is the limit. It’s out there, this music video. I mean, we’re not expecting Hollywood directors at the door anytime soon but it adds a real air of positivity to a school especially in the week before the Christmas tests get started. It’s a really welcome distraction.” Ms Garry quoted in the Irish Independent
