Transition Day for Incoming 1st Years to FVC

It was an exciting Monday in FVC as Ms A Mc Geehan, our HSCL teacher organised the first day of our transition programme for our incoming 1st years.

Our new pupils were fortunate to have a fantastic student mentoring team to support them on their first visit and to show them the way in their new school environment. Well done to all mentors pictured below. Many thanks to Ms O’Regan who facilitated a very interactive and fun workshop developing skills in preparation for our new student’s arrival.

Ms O Regan with our Mentoring Team of Students

Monday 9th May was a great day as staff and students had the pleasure of meeting our incoming students as part of their transition to Finn Valley College.

Starting post primary is an exciting new chapter in their lives and we enjoyed introducing them to some of their new subjects, their mentors and our wonderful staff. The students were welcomed by Principal Mr Thompson and our Deputy Ms Boland and participated in lessons in Science, Engineering, Wood Technology, Art and PE. The day is part of our transition programme which gives students an insight into the opportunities that await them in FVC.

Getting Active in PE

In the evening, a ‘Meet and Greet’ was organised for their parents which gave a great opportunity to see their child’s new educational surroundings, learn about subject choice and the facilities and programmes on offer at FVC. The evening finished up with a relaxed “meet and mingle” in our canteen. Many thanks to all those who attended and participated in the evening.

Parents Induction Evening

We look forward to meeting our incoming students again soon for the next stage in their induction programme and best wishes for the rest of their final year in primary school.
