Fun times at our annual Junior Enterprise Programme
Congratulations to Ms Mc Geehan on organising another fun filled and exciting Junior Enterprise Programme for 5th class students from the Finn Valley area. This annual event offers pupils the opportunity to experience practical, real-life business learning. The event nurtures creativity, teamwork and problem solving.
The Junior Enterprise Programme works closely with the local community – often involving local entrepreneurs who share their story and that of their skills with the pupils and our own students who act as mentors to the 5th Class pupils. This year we were delighted to team up with LYIT Computing Department to offer pupils workshops on app design and robotics. Much thanks to Ms Maria Griffin and Mr Kevin Meehan, LYIT Computing lecturers, for delivering these exciting workshops to the students. Through computers, robotics, games and varying learning aids, pupils got a clear picture of what creating their own app is all about.
Under their teachers guidance and with the inspiration of LYIT Computing Lecturers and our business teachers Miss Mc Laughlin and Ms Mc Geehan the students got to discover their strengths, business and technical, as individuals and as part of a team. Now with their knowledge and skills, they will return to their schools and design innovative apps using storyboarding and the business advice given while they attended our school. Who knows maybe they will go all the way to become the winners when they present their finished product to the panel of judges in March.
Over the two days, our College had the pleasure of meeting and working with 5th Class pupils, their teachers and SNAs from St. Mary’s Stranorlar, St.Patrick’s Drumkeen, Gleneely NS, St. Mary’s Castlefin, Dooish, Glencovitt, Scoil Bhride, St Safan’s and Sessiaghoneill national schools.
Best of luck to all the schools on their next stage of the competition.
