Finn Valley College Annual Variety Concert: Well being in Action!
Over the last number of years, Finn Valley College has celebrated Christmas with some fabulous Variety Concerts. A central part of these shows has been active participation, development of self esteem and expanding friendship groups while enabling the students to take responsibility in their own personal growth and leadership roles. The Balor Theatre certainly comes alive with a new theme every year with students responding to the challenges of presenting a two hour live show.
The production team, led by Lisa Treanor, Shaun Byrne, Nicole McCafferty and Freddie Godliman, Holly Murray and numerous staff behind the scenes always recommend that as many students as possible get involved. They believe that participation in the show is a great tool for development of core values like self- confidence, self- expression and personal growth. The role of the school concert provides a valuable experience for all; from those onstage with lead and chorus roles to those who run our backstage, props, costumes and front stage production.
Through music, dance, drama, singing and comedy, students and staff once again entertain families, friends, indeed the whole Finn Valley Community. Year on year, it is clear to see the learning and development that takes place in our students as the energy and enthusiasm of the performers is so highly reciprocated by that of the audience. Furthermore, the air of positivity between staff and students involved is palpable every year when it comes to showtime.
A huge well done to everyone who is involved in what is always an uplifting and highly entertaining show.
