FVC support Darkness into Light 2023
The Ballybofey and Stranorlar community supported the Darkness into Light again this year in the early hours of Saturday morning, May 6th 2023.
People gathered from many local groups and organisations to show solidarity and awareness by walking together from darkness into the sunrise. Now in its second year in Ballybofey and Stranorlar, the walk provided an opportunity for people to connect with their local community and to bring hope to people who have been impacted by suicide.
Ms Mc Geehan (HSCL) and the organising team in FVC, supported the event by creating awareness in the lead up to May 6th. They would like to thank the students and staff who helped decorate the route with their “Light” and “Hope” display and who made the early rise and donated to Pieta House.
The school would also like to thank the committee for organising such a successful event which has helped to create awareness of the support that is available. Learning about the valuable work of Pieta has developed an understanding that there is always someone to talk to and someone who will listen – it offers advice and a hope to help prevent suicide and self-harm.
Well done to everyone who got involved in organising this walk of solidarity and the lovely refreshments provided afterwards.
