LGTBI Week in FVC

LGBTQI+ Stand Up Awareness Week 2021 took place around the country on Mon 15th – Fri 19th November.
In Finn Valley College the awareness week was organised by our Student Wellbeing Committee. Teachers in their Wellbeing and SPHE classes created awareness among students about LGBTQI+ issues. A host of online resources were used with the classes to aid discussion points and answer questions.

The Wellbeing Team created a “Solidarity Wall” which was a focal point in the school canteen, where students showed their support for the LGBTI+ community by leaving a message of support on the wall. The Wellbeing Team also made a digital display of messages that was shown throughout the week on the digital noticeboards.

To mark the end of the awareness week on Friday, November 19th students and staff showed their pride support by coming into school wearing the brightest jumper they could find so that the whole school makes up the LGBTI+ rainbow flag.
