What is Youthreach?

Youthreach is the Department of Education and Science’s official education, training and work experience programme for young people who have left school early. Its aim is to develop the core skills needed for further learning and to prepare young people to progress to further education/training or to employment.

 

Who can take part in Youthreach programmes?

The Youthreach programme is for young people aged 15-20 years who have left school early (at least six months) and have obtained little or no qualifications i.e. a minimum of 6 D’s in the Junior Certificate.

 

What courses are available in Youthreach?

Youthreach offers both certified (FETAC Level 3 & 4, ECDL, OCN, OCR) and uncertified courses in a range of subjects including art, catering, childcare, communications, computers, construction, drama, hairdressing, metalcraft, woodwork, etc.  Courses vary from centre to centre.

 

What will a Youthreach course cost?
There are no costs for participating in a Youthreach programme.

 

Will I be paid while attending a Youthreach course?

While attending a Youthreach programme you will receive a weekly training allowance, a meal allowance and a travel and childcare allowance if applicable.
