Categories of Membership:

 

  1. Existing and previous Members of the Society who wish to continue in Membership
  2. Employees of Co. Donegal VEC on Contract of Indefinite Duration (CID) or Fixed Term Contract for 2010
  3. Spouses of existing and future playing members of Categories 1 and 2 above
  4. Retired Staff, i.e. on Pension
  5. Retired Staff whose most recent employment was with Co. Donegal VEC
  6. Existing V.E.C./Sub-Committee/Board of Management Members.
  7. Mr.Niall Sheridian, Solicitor to Co.Donegal V.E.C. or his nominee
  8. Mr.Declan Sherlock, Manager, Bank of Ireland, V.E.C. Banker or his

            nominee. 
 

Subscription Fees and Conditions of Membership for 2010 

Membership Subscription Fees

Membership Subscription Fee of €30 for the 2010 year.

Members must pay a minimum of €25 Green Fees in respect of each Outing played. 

Conditions

  • Each existing and new Member must complete the Society Membership Form which must be forwarded together with the Membership Subscription Fee to the Society Secretary.
  • Subscription Fees must be paid in full in order to qualify for prizes and Golfer of the Year points.
  • Each member must have competed in a minimum of one (1) of the scheduled official Outings,other than the Team Event, to be eligible to compete for the 1st Prize on Captain's Day.This rule does not apply to the order of the award of Golfer of the Year points.
 

Society Handicap System 

1. Each Member who is already a Member of a recognised Golf Club will play off

    his/her official Handicap at the first Outing of the year. 

2. Thereafter such official Handicap shall become the Member's Society Handicap

     for the Society year, unless reduced at Club level and subject to No.3 below. 

3. The winner of each Singles Competition Outing shall have his/her Society

    Handicap reduced as follows:

  • Handicap Range  0-10:   1 stroke for 1 Outing  played
  • Handicap Range 11-19: 1 stroke for 2 Outings played
  • Handicap Range 20+ :   1 stroke for 3 Outings played

    In addition, any Member who breaks Standard Scratch (SSS) of the Course will

    have their Society Handicap adjusted accordingly in accordance with

    G.U.I./I.L.G.U.Rules. 
 

4. In accordance with the CONGU Recommendations regarding

    Competitions involving men and women,Handicaps of female Members will be

    adjusted appropriately in each Competition to reflect the variation in Standard

    Scratch (SSS) between the Men's and Women's Tees.  

5. Provisional Handicaps for Non-Golf Club Members will be awarded subject to

    review by Oliver Plunkett, Handicaps Secretary, assisted by Sean Boyle in

    consultation with P.J. McGowan,Captain and Jim McGlynn,Society Secretary,

    i.e. Outings Organising Committee as follows:

    Male:          24 Maximum

    Female:      36 Maximum   

6. Oliver Plunkett, Handicaps Secretary will, in consultation with the Outings

    Organising Committee,have full authority to effect reductions or increases

    in Members' Society Handicaps under the General Play heading.    

 

Golfer of the Year Competition 

Golfer of the Year Points will be awarded in respect of the first ten (10) nett scores, based on Society Handicap, at each Singles Competition Outing as follows:-

          1st:        25 Points             6th:      15 Points

          2nd:      23 Points             7th:     13 Points

          3rd:      21 Points             8th:      11 Points

          4th:       19 Points              9th:      9 Points

          5th:       17 Points             10th:     7 Points 

In the event of a tie following completion of all the Outings for the 2010 Year, the overall winner of the Golfer of the Year prize will be decided by reference to the cumulative Stableford points totals in the Singles Competition Outings for the members involved.

The 6 best scores out of 7 or 5 out of 6, if only 6 outings played, will count towards Golfer of the Year.

  • Saturday 8th May 2010 - Letterkenny Golf Club
  • Saturday 11th September 2010 - Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club
  • Saturday 16th October 2010 - Dunfanaghy Golf Club
  • Saturday 13th November 2010 - Narin & Portnoo Golf Club
  • Thursday 30th December 2010 - Bundoran Golf Club
 
 
 
 

Order of Play 

  • Order of Play and Playing Partners to be determined by means of a Draw in respect of each Outing with the exception of the Team Event.
  • Members must arrive not later than fifteen (15) minutes before the commencement of the allocated Tee reserved time for each Outing.
  • Each Society Member must play with a Society Member within the allocated Tee reserved time in order to qualify for prizes and Golfer of the Year points.
 

Team Competition

Society Committee Member to coordinate the selection of Team(s) for their respective School/Centre with a minimum of 2 members of staff on each Team representing their School/Centre and a Draw will be held on the day of the Team Competition for any Society Members not yet assigned to a Team, including lapsed Members, subject to overall arrangements being finalised by the Outings Organising Committee.     

Policy in respect of Visitors/Guests at Society Outings

Society Members who wish to invite visitors/guests to participate in Society Outings should seek prior permission from Jim McGlynn, Secretary in consultation with P.J. McGowan, Captain and that it would be open to the President and the Captain, at their discretion, to invite visitors/guests to their respective Outings.
