Celebrating Success and Farewells
Today marked a special day in our schools calendar as we bid farewell to our Leaving Cert students Class of 2024, we applauded our Transition Year students on completion of their TY Programme and our PLC students received successful results in their QQI Awards.
Leaving Cert Graduation Ceremony
Thank you to everyone who was involved in giving our Leaving Cert class such a lovely farewell today. It was a very proud day for staff and families as they gathered to celebrate and mark the journey that this group of students have had over the last five years. During this time, they have shown resilience, kindness and courage, enjoying opportunities to build friendships, develop talents and make memories in both their academic and extra-curricular activities.
At their ceremony today, Yearhead, Mr Byrne spoke of the fond memories he has of the group and thanked Class Teachers Mr Godliman, Mr Rodgers, Mr O’Donnell and SNA Jennifer Gallagher for their support to the group.
Principal Mr Mc Fadden wished the students well in the next chapter of their journey. They are the authors of their own stories, encouraging them to write them with passion, courage, and commitment. Deputy Principal Ms Boland reminded them that they will always be welcome in Finn Valley College and thanked their families for their support. She encouraged them to be brave, kind and work towards their dreams. Thanks to Ms Mc Cafferty who led the choir in uplifting music and to student John Gregg for entertaining the crowd as always.
It was an emotional but lovely tribute as our 1st Year students lined the steps clapping and wishing their peers good luck in the next stage of their journey. We wish the class of 2024 every success in their upcoming exams and know they will continue to do great things.

Transition Year Prizegiving
Our TY Programme Co-ordinator Ms Garry had the pleasure of addressing students, staff and families today to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Transition Year Students. She spoke eloquently of the attributes that she has learned and admired from the group this year.
Special guest Mr Jason Quigley was inspiring, talking of the importance of resilience and staying grounded. He commended the group on their wonderful achievements and suggested they have a fun and relaxing Summer after a busy year of developing new skills and talents. He wishes them every success as they embark on their Leaving Cert next year.
Principal Mr Mc Fadden commended the group on their achievements, their participation in so many charitable activities and upskilling in a variety of areas which will enhance their soft skills. Their e-portfolios, projects and certificates were admired by staff and family members. The prizegiving concluded by a lovely rendition of “Wonderful World” sung by Geraldine Mc Cafferty and a memories slideshow by Ciara Moss and Oisin Foy.
PLC Results at QQI Level 5
Congratulations to our PLC Students who were presented with their QQI Level 5 Awards in Early Learning and Care, Business Administration, Sports Recreation and Exercise. Our PLC Co-ordinator, Ms Boland and the staff congratulated the students on their excellent results and their commitment to their studies. We look forward to celebrating with them at their Awards Ceremony in September.
