World Earth Day 2021

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year. The day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The day inspires us to act towards the protection of the environment and focus on the need for conservation.

EARTHDAY.ORG’s theme for Earth Day 2021 is Restore Our Earth™, which focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems. In this way, the theme rejects the notion that mitigation or adaptation are the only ways to address climate change. It is up to each and every one of us to Restore Our Earth not just because we care about the natural world, but because we live on it. We all need a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health & survival, and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity.

In our CSPE classes, students participated in lots of activities and group discussions on how students in FVC can become more committed to helping our environment.  The photographs below are from Ms Mc Granaghan’s 1st year CSPE classes busy at work learning about this years theme and designing a message to encourage young people to be active citizens. Students also participated in a lovely nature walk to highlight the beauty of our local community.  These fun and interactive nature activities created awareness of World Earth Day in FVC.
