Sports PLC visit to LYIT

The Joyce sports PLC class visited the Sports Department in LYIT.

The Joyce Sports PLC class enjoyed a very informative and interactive visit to the sports department of LYIT recently. The group were treated to a number of talks, a 45minute demonstration in the Sports Technology room, a complimentary lunch and a tour of the An Danlann sports complex.

 

The visit was excellently organised by the Head of the Department of Law and Humanities, Ms Anne Burke. Speakers included senior lecturer Ms Suzanne Kennedy, Access Co-Ordinator in The Curve, Mr Brian Mc Gonagle, Manager of the An Danlann, Ms Helen Kennedy, Sports Science Technician, Danny Mooney and Sports Tutor Danny Gillespie.

 

The group were informed of the variety of sports related courses LYIT has to offer them next year, were treated to two working demonstration in the new state of the art sports science facilities and, after lunch, even took part in an impromptu Tug of War match in the impressive sports hall.

 

The class were accompanied on the visit by Careers teacher Mr White, Sports PLC tutor Mr Mc Daid and recent graduate of LYIT, and present trainee P.E. teacher in Finn Valley College, Mr Steven O Reilly.
