The University of Limerick Diploma course has been developed in response to expressed needs for educational progression routes in the area of Drug and Alcohol Work. This Diploma course covers a wide spectrum of issues from prevention education to treatment and rehabilitation whilst also addressing the wider aspects of policy, criminal justice system, research and reflective practice plus substances and mental health. It also aims to support actions in National Drug and Alcohol policy that call for increased training opportunities for individuals working in the field.

 

This Diploma programme is designed for practitioners in the drug and alcohol field and practitioners who come into contact with individuals at risk for drug and alcohol misuse. The programme may suit health professionals, social care professionals, teachers, guidance counsellors, youth and child care workers, prison officers, Gardaí, probation officers and community workers among others.
